Team Development
RDA regards "team development" or "team building" as a carefully designed process rather than a one-time program. Our process often includes:
- Pre-work (e.g., needs assessments (including Team Effectiveness Surveyâ?¢), team meetings)
- Determination of appropriate learning environments, models and tools
- Debriefing activities
- Consultation between workshops
- Follow-through on action plans

Team development processes provide meaningful individual and group learning experiences connected directly back to business and professional issues. Each process incorporates a carefully sequenced series of programs, activities and transfer-to-work discussions focusing on meeting specific organizational objectives. These include:
- Building esprit de corps and effective team development
- Designing innovative approaches for adapting to change and adversity
- Redefining the roles and responsibilities of team leaders
- Developing and enhancing communications skills
- Realizing a commitment to a common vision and goals
- Building trust and confidence; dealing with betrayal
- Furthering and supporting cultural change
- Developing strategies for resolving conflict
A wide-range of applied learning tools are utilized in order to provide a comfortable setting in which groups can examine their problem solving styles, identify areas of strength and opportunities for development and create realistic, tangible goals â?? some examples:
- Story-telling â?? the essence of applied learning â?? true learning takes place in the intersection between â??personal historyâ?? and â??present eventsâ??
- Sit-down, table exercises that require teamwork for successful problem-solving
- Indoor and outdoor portable experiential equipment where individuals and teams face problems that require cognitive, emotional and physical involvement
- Permanently installed â??ropes/challenge coursesâ?? â?? individuals and teams are faced with challenges that require more physical effort.
- Cooking! Team building, roles/responsibilities, communication, leadership, learning new skills, appreciation for diversity, etc.
